General Elections: Today and tomorrow are days of reflection
Today and tomorrow are days dedicated to the reflection for more than eight million eight hundred thousand registered voters for the general elections to take place on Wednesday throughout the country and nine other countries in Africa, Europe and Rest of World. According to the Electoral Law, after 45 days of the electoral campaign (which ended yesterday), voters have two days to think about the choices they will do on polling day. During the two days of reflection and day of the vote, in accordance with Article 34 of the Electoral Law, "is not allowed any electoral propaganda″.

General Elections: Observation Missions continue to arrive in the country
International observers, who will monitor the fourth elections to be held on Wednesday, continue to arrive in the country. Last week came the observation mission of the Electoral Institute of Southern Africa (EISA), which began its work yesterday morning. The mission is composed of 24 observers from Angola, Burundi, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania.



The deputy head of mission, Denis Kadima, said in a press conference in Maputo that the mission is composed of members of civil society, electoral bodies and communities of African countries, as well as Europe and Asia.
The mission is in the country to follow the moments of the electoral process in the polling day.

EU observers satisfied with freedom of access to the electoral process
The mission of EU observers to the elections of next Wednesday in Mozambique is satisfied with the freedom to observe the electoral process and is committed to comply with the laws of the country.
The Deputy Head of Mission of EU observers, Raphael Pouye, highlighted the importance of conditions of access to the electoral process. The group of EU observers spread over 11 constituencies has 72 elements and will join 59 others who arrived in September. Pouye said that “the Mozambican electoral law, the code of conduct and rules of electoral observation gives free access to all stages of the electoral process”

Mozambique to host the 1st Pan-African conference on gender and HIV / AIDS
The Inter-Faith Alliance for Law and Social Development (AIRD), in partnership with the African regional platforms, will organize the First Pan-African Youth Leadership Conference on Gender and HIV / AIDS.

The event will take place on the first week of December. A document of the Central Preparatory Committee (GCP), says that the 1st Pan-African Youth Leadership is aimed at promoting dialogue about the mechanisms for the formulation of proposals, gender policy within the associations and / or civil society organizations in Africa through Discussion and adoption of a code of gender and reducing the risk of infection with HIV.

Commercial banks engage new charges

Commercial banks will practice new charges in consulting balances in ATM's, from the 9th November. Commercial banks will practice the commission of five Meticais in the ATM's for their customers, with the exception of Barclays Bank, which will collect six Meticais. This new pricing represents an increase of about 20 percent. Meanwhile, for the operations in the ATMs of banks in where the person is not customer, since the card is issued by a bank operating in Mozambique, the bank will charge between seven and twelve MZM, respectively, representing a reduced by about 80 percent.

Cashew is being processed locally in Nampula

The producers of cashew nut, in the province of Nampula, are going to collect more profits from the commercialization of their product after the installation of a processing plant for juice, molasses, and other delicacies from the cashew fruit. The initiative of the installation of that plant, located in the administrative post of Itoculo, Monapo district, came from the Development Aid from People to People (ADPP). To ensure the raw material for the plant, there have been planted cashew trees in an extension estimated at about of 115 hectares.

Increase number of hours of water availability in Maputo

The network of water supply to the city and Maputo province will be improved and the number of hours the availability of the precious liquid will be increased, thanks to an investment of 70 million USD, of the Fund for Water Supply (FIPAG) to be spent in the near future. This project will be financed by the European Investment Bank, the European Union, the Government of the Netherlands and the French Development Agency.

Beira increases rice production

According to the Administrator of Beira, Cremilda Sabino, a total of 100 tons of improved rice seed is being distributed to the farmers, in order to increase the production of that cereal. This amount will cover a total of 1600 families that will explore an area of 1250 hectares.

Police arrests a singer

Police in the Republic of Mozambique in Chokwe, Gaza Province, arrested a few days ago, Felix da Silva Manguane, a young musician, by singing "cinzentinha″. All because he accuses some police officers of being corrupt. Police have not ruled on the matter due to the absence of the district commander. However, the family of the singer says he is receiving threats from some police officers.

Ananias Mathe is sentenced today by the Court of Johannesburg
The Mozambican Ananias Mathe will be sentenced today by the High Court in southern Gauteng, the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. Ananias is accused of 64 crimes, especially child abuse, assault, attempted murder, armed robberies and illegal use of weapons.
