The Centre for Chinese Studies in collaboration with the Confucius Institute at Stellenbosch University will be hosting two upcoming events. Please see the attached images for more information.
On 30th September 2010, the CCS and CI will host a presentation by Ms Gao Qing from Harvard University in the Arts and Social Sciences building at Stellenbosch University at 16h00. She will present on the topic of “Chinese Studies in North America: The Harvard Method.” Ms Gao Qing is currently a librarian in the Harvard College Library at the Harvard University where she has recently been concentrating on National Library of China thus Ms Qing will discuss the emergence of trends in Chinese studies in North America – with particular reference to the Harvard University.

The second upcoming event will be held on 4 October 2010 in the Auditorium of the J.S Gericke Library at Stellenbosch University at 12h30. Professor Tu Weiming, also from Harvard University will present on “An International Humanism: Tracing Humanist and Globalist Discourse in China.” Professor Tu Weiming taught at the Harvard University since 1981 and is currently a Professor of Philosophy and the founding Dean of the Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Peking University. The Professor will be addressing issues of the newly emerging Chinese cultural identity by leading discussion on emerging discourses in humanism and globalism in China today.
