Parliament approves Civil Aviation Law
The Parliament yesterday approved the Law of Civil Aviation by
consensus. The law aims to develop the aviation sector in Mozambique.
According to the Government the law is in harmony with the international
treaties and agreement to which the country is party.

Members of Parliament must understand problems of people – Says Dias of
Renamo-UE
At the end of his mandate, Member of Parliament Maximo Dias said that
Members of Parliament must be concerned about the worries, suffering and
joys of all Mozambicans. He asked his colleagues who will continue in
the Parliament after the elections of 28th October to transmit these
thoughts to its new Members.

Administrator of Jangamo is accused of taking land for use in his own
projects
Local people have accused the Administrator of Jangamo (Inhambane
province), Joao Barreto, of taking land for use in his own personal
projects. The land belonged to a family, but the Administrator insists
that it belongs to him, and it is alleged that he aims to build a garage
there. The Administrator has denied all accusations.

Evidence of diversion of money in Manica
There is evidence of diversion of money in the Provincial Department of
Planning and Finance in Manica. The revelation was made yesterday by the
Governor of Manica, Mauricio Vieira, at a press conference. He said that
the Office of Attorney-General has started an investigation to identify
and bring to justice those involved, who allegedly include functionaries
of the Department of Planning and Finance and the Department of
Education and Culture.

Frelimo retreats and says that does not aim to win everything
The spokesperson of Frelimo, Edson Macuacua, denied that his Party is
interested in winning all seats in the Parliamentary and Provincial
Assemblies in the 28th October elections. He was reacting to statements
made by his Party colleagues that Frelimo aimed to win the presidency,
and all seats in the Assembly of the Republic and of the provincial
assemblies.

World financial crisis affects Balance of Payments
According to the Bank of Mozambique, the world financial crisis is
affecting the national Balance of Payments. In the period up to March,
the trade between Mozambique and the rest of world had a deficit of
US$316m.

Government will facilitate foreign trade
According to an Act approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers, the
Government will facilitate foreign trade. The Act also puts in place the
necessary conditions for the customs process in Mozambique.

Nampula plans its development
The Provincial Government of Nampula has presented its strategic
development plan. The plan is essentially based on social and economic
components. It is defined for 10 years and prioritizes the availability
of land and technology for agriculture to improve production and
incomes.

Police in Tete recovers two cars
The Police recovered yesterday two cars of the South African Company
CBE, stolen on 28th June. After the theifs were persued by the Police,
one of the cars was adanboned and recovered in Changara, Tete province,
and the other in Inchope, Manica province.

Police arrest individual selling hashish in Xai Xai
An individual was arrested this week at Xai Xai beach, Gaza province,
for attempting to sell 24 kg of hashish. The detention occurred a week
after the seizure of around three tons of the drug in Chonguene. The
Police said that the arrest was possible because the seller was
denounced by local people.
