There is no rupture in the national financial system - says Prime
Minister
According to the Prime Minister, Luisa Diogo, the world financial crisis
has not yet created serious ruptures in the Mozambican financial system,
in spite of the existence of evidence of negative impacts in the
economic sectors of tourism, agriculture, exports and mineral resources.
Diogo recognizes that the crisis will affect the economy in the future,
principally by increasing the country's foreign debt in the order of 535
million Meticais, due to depreciation of the national currency, fund
transfers to the Embassies and the purchase of other public goods and
importing of services. Luisa Diogo made this statement in Parliament
during the last session of the current Government.
