Renamo accuses Frelimo of attempting to destroy its Maringue base
Renamo has accused Frelimo of attempting to destroy its military base in
Maringue, Sofala province.
According to Fernando Mazanga, spokesperson of Renamo, anonymous
messages were circulated last Friday saying that there would be a
blood-bath. He stated that two community police officers, identified as
Juvencio Saiene and 'Domingos', were found with explosives and were
ready to detonate them at the first opportunity.
Mazanga said that “these are terrorist actions which aim to intimidate
the population of Maringue, to create panic at a time when people are
preparing for the electoral census and the elections of October 28.”
