1.1. President Armando Guebuza goes to Parliament at last time
President Armando Guebuza will go on Monday to the Parliament to present his last annual report. Guebuza will address the nation and present the general state of the country, and also present a summary of his five years as President. 1.2 Parliament rejects the Electoral Observation Law Proposal
The Parliament rejected yesterday the Renamo-UE proposal for the law of observation of the electoral process. According to the authors of the proposal it would have increased transparency and credibility of the electoral process in the country. 1.3. Mozambique and Zambia reinforce cooperation on security
The cooperation between Mozambique and Zambia in the sector of security is registering advances, according to the Meeting of the Regional Committee on Defence and Security held in Tete, this week. Jamal Chande, Provincial Police Commander in Tete said at the end of the Meeting that in the last two years the defence and security forces stationed in Tete, in Mozambique, and in Chipata, in Zambia have cooperated in operations relating to drug trafficking, the stealing of livestock, illegal border crossing and other criminal cases. 1.4. Mozambique and Ethiopia will cooperate in the area of Defence
The Governments of Mozambique and Ethiopia have signed an agreement of cooperation in the area of defence, which formalizes the intention of the two parties to work together and share experiences. The agreement was reached during the recent visit of the Mozambican Minister for National Defence, Filipe Nyussi, to Ethiopia.

1.5. The Americans want the extradition of Charles Smith
The US Embassy has said that it had knowledge of the presence of Charles Smith, the American citizen wanted in the US for tax fraud, in Mozambique, in November 2008.

2.1. Sena railway is being vandalized
Unknown people are vandalizing the rails and distance markers of the Sena railway, in Sofala. Materials are also being stolen for use in fishing and the making of hunting tools for use in the Marromeu Reserve. (Jornal da manhã. Radio Moçambique. 19th June, 2009)
2.2. Chimoio needs 12 million Meticais for road rehabilitation
The Municipality of Chimoio needs at least 12 million Meticais to improve its urban roads which currently have many potholes, caused by erosion by rainfall and lack of maintenance. The Municipality aims to rehabilitate the 8 kilometres of asphalt road and 20 kilometres of dirt road which are currently in the most critical state.

2.3. The Government gives 200 million Meticais to the Housing Fund
The Housing Fund has received around 200 million from the Government, for the construction of houses, identification of plots of land, and provision of credit. Until now, the Housing Fund has used this Money to build 139 houses, with 209 planned, with 5,400 plots of land identified and a further 9,400 planned to be identified.

3.1.Around 84 elderly people assaulted in the first quarter of the year
According to the Office of Support to Women and Children of the Ministry of Interior, 84 elderly people were victims of various types of violence in the first quarter of the year. The information was given during a lecture organized by the Ministry of Women and Social Action, in the scope of the week of celebration of the fight against violence against elderly people. 3.2. Report on Human Trafficking highlights efforts of Mozambique
The report of the State Department of the US on human trafficking in the year 2008, published this week, praises the Mozambican State for the approval of a law for the punishment of human traffickers.
