Women: African voices

Women's groups from across sub-Saharan African delivered a declaration on peace, security and development to the British Government on 28 April. The Voices of African Women Declaration was drafted by women from Angola, DRC, Rwanda, Nigeria and Sudan, coordinated by the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). IANSA Women's Network member Annie Matundu-Mbambi, from WILPF- DRC, said: "The Declaration we made in London is very important because the voices of African women do not reach many citizens and governments across the world. We hope this Declaration will have an impact on national and international policies. When people read and sign the petition, they help us break the wall of silence and to move forward."
