The US Government’s approach to Somalia

Ambassador Phillip Carter, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, US State Department

Ambassador Carter will discuss the US Government’s efforts on Somalia and desire for regional and international coordination to support the Djibouti Peace Process and Somalia ’s Transitional Federal Government. The Ambassador will also raise the US Government’s concerns over the increase of extremist threats in Somalia , including by foreign fighters.

The Angola Forum will be celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The Forum has been at the forefront in publishing important research and analysis on Angola and convening a host of events over the last 10 years. The conference will draw attention to Angola ’s growing importance in international relations, and aims to raise the visibility of Angola in the UK and throughout Europe .
