SOAS NEWS/UPDATES

Dear Manuel,

Volunteer activity lies at the core of the alumni relations programme here at SOAS, and our alumni volunteers offer a valuable contribution to our global network of almost 40,000 alumni.

The success of the alumni network is a result of dedication contributed by fellow SOAS alumni just like you. We have recently been busy developing volunteering initiatives, and would like to take this opportunity to update you with the range of volunteering activities available to you as a SOAS alumnus!

Share your career experiences
Talk to other alumni or current students about your work experience.
- Online with fellow alumni, via our Career Networking service
- Meet students at careers-based events
- ‘Take an Alum for Coffee’ – run in conjunction with the Careers Service, this exciting new initiative facilitates one-to-one conversations between students and alumni around particular career paths, sectors, professions and industries. You choose how you would prefer to interact - and you can always say no, if an enquiry catches you at a busy time! Update your details on My Directories/Volunteering page.

Talk to prospective SOAS students
Volunteer your time to help out with student recruitment events in your local area. As a SOAS alumnus, you are ideally placed to speak to prospective students about your experiences at the School, and what you have done since you studied at SOAS. Register your interest at My Directories/Volunteering.

Join the Directory of Expertise
We regularly call on our alumni expertise when receiving requests for specific information from fellow alumni, current students and the media.
- Add your details to the Directory of Expertise
- Take part in London’s ‘Capital L’ project, an initiative to promote the uptake of language study in London’s secondary schools.
Update your interests at My Directories/Volunteering.

Become an Alumni Contact
Our fantastic network of Alumni Contacts volunteer their time to act as a first point of contact and help with organising local events. Visit our Alumni Worldwide pages to view contacts in your area.

Share your profile with the SOAS community
We need your help in showcasing SOAS alumni! Share your university memories and achievements with fellow alumni, current students and staff at SOAS, by completing the list of questions. You may also view a collection of profiles in our Alumni Spotlight section.

If you do have any questions, please get in touch and we would be happy to help you further. We are grateful to the support we receive from our alumni, and could not be so active without your help - Thank you!

Kind regards,

Victoria, Zeba and Henty
Alumni Relations team
