PARALLEL COUNT CONFIRMS FRELIMO VICTORY IN NACALA
Chale Ossufo (Frelimo) won 55% of the vote for mayor in Nacala yesterday, compared to 45% for Manuel dos Santos (Renamo and incumbent mayor), according to the parallel count carried out by the Electoral Observatory. Despite the rain, turnout was similar to the 56% in the first round election on 19 November.
Polling stations opened on time, and were able to close on time because there was only one ballot paper so people could vote quickly.
